As a first home buyer, should I buy a villa or an apartment?

For a motivated, independent person, nothing excites more than making your own dream home come into reality. Whether it is from off plan villas for sale in Dubai or new projects by Emaar, the sweet taste of victory, of having a home to call your own, simply lifts up your soul.

Dubai’s real estate has progressively flourished over the years. In fact, Dubai real estate agencies offer a wide variety of options to choose from, such as Bluewaters apartments or City Walk apartments and villas that perfectly fit your style and budget.

Should you buy an apartment or a villa?

Both apartments and villas in Dubai are designed to convey the essence of opulent living; both are equipped with top-notch facilities and equipment that offer an unparalleled quality of life.

If you are torn between an apartment or a villa, then here are the benefits and drawbacks of both options to help you decide the perfect purchase for your first home.

1: COST

As far as expenditure is concerned, living in a villa may be more expensive than maintaining an apartment. Usually, apartments come fully-furnished which means a lesser expenditure for the owner, plus the maintenance requirement for apartments is easier to digest. Meanwhile, sustaining and upgrading villas can cost much. You have full responsibility for maintaining the whole upkeep of your villa.

2: AMENITIES

Normally, apartments in a communal tower have gyms, swimming pools, and restaurants for their residents. Villas, nowadays, also offer easier access to high-end swimming pools, world-renowned restaurants, etc. However, public transport is quite hard within the area, so having your own private car is essential.

3: PRIVACY

The most promising factor that a villa offers is privacy, which you might not fully enjoy when you are living in an apartment.

If you are living in a villa, you can do whatever you want without constantly worrying if the next-door neighbor might hear you. Furthermore, you will not have to constantly wait for the lift in the morning or even for parking if you are living in a private villa.

4: ACCESS

Generally, communal towers are situated in strategic locations which means they are more accessible to your workplace, shopping centers, parks, etc. Although villa communities nowadays are built near shopping centers, parks, world-renowned restaurants, etc.it can be daunting to look for public transport to and from work, so owning a private vehicle would be a must.

5: VIEW

Before, communal towers were strategically located in areas with picturesque views, but not anymore today. With the surge of real estate business, there is a good chance that your picture-perfect view will be replaced with construction sites. On the other hand, villas are deliberately situated in striking locations with peaceful neighborhood and scenic views.

These are some of the major differences between living in an apartment or villa. The ultimate choice still lies solely on you and your needs. Just weigh the benefits and drawbacks of the two to help you decide which option fits your interests perfectly.
