Top 6 iPhone iOS 13 Features You Should Know About

During its WWDC 2019 keynote, Apple officially unveiled iOS 13 for iPhone. While we had a good idea of what to expect, Apple still offered some surprises.

iOS 13 (formerly iPhone OS) is a mobile operating system created and developed by Apple. It was released to the public on September 19, 2019, and brought with it several cool features.

Chances are if you own an iPhone, it probably operates on iOS 13. iOS 14 is expected to be released in the fall of 2020, but for now we have the current operating system to hold us over.

This goes beyond knowing how to record phone screen. In today’s blog, we’re going over the top 6 most useful iPhone iOS 13 features you may not know about. Let’s get started!

1.   Dark Mode

Want to switch up your iPhone theme? Tired of the same old white interface? The iOS 13’s dark mode gives iOS and apps a beautiful dark color scheme. Perfect for low-light environments, Dark Mode is easier on your eyes and won’t disturb people around you.

You can easily turn it off and on manually depending on your environment, such as when you enter a dark room like a movie theater or when it is dark outside.

Even more, you can schedule dark mode to turn on and off based on a certain time. This means that when its sunset or sunrise it is great when you’re outside at night or using your iPhone before you go to bed.

The best part? Dark mode works seamlessly with most applications. Even wallpapers are optimized for Dark Mode to automatically change as you switch between light and dark.

2.   QuickPath

If you’re not a quick texter or are tired of clicking the wrong button on your keyboard as you type, QuickPath may be for you.

This feature allows you to swipe your finger from one letter to the next to enter a word without removing your finger from the keyboard. You can even swipe or tap to type interchangeably, so you can choose what’s most convenient even if you’re mid‑sentence.

Texting has never been easier with alternate word options that appear in the predictive bar. You get three different options, such as synonyms or similar spellings for a word.

Dictation automatically detects which language a user is speaking. The language will be chosen from the keyboard languages enabled on the device, up to a maximum of four.

3.   Improved Camera

If you haven’t heard of Portrait Mode on iOS 13, you’re missing out on the highest quality photos that can be shot on an iPhone to date.

The latest camera improvements to iOS 13 allow you to virtually adjust the position and intensity of your studio lighting. Increase the intensity of each Portrait Lighting effect — moving the light closer to your subject — to smooth skin, sharpen eyes, and brighten facial features.

Or decrease the intensity of the light — moving it away from your subject — for a subtle, refined look.

High-Key Light Mono is a new effect that creates a classic visual with a monochromatic subject on a white background.

4.   Memojis

We’ve all heard of emojis, but have you heard of Memojis? These guys are the latest forms of expression to hit your iPhone keyboard. It works by using the camera to follow your facial movements as you blink, laugh, smile, etc.

You can even create a Memoji of yourself using the designer app or base it off a picture of yourself. There are also several pre-made Memojis such as animals that you can send to friends and family.

You can even speak with Memojis as the app records your voice and mouth movements and sends the cartoon over to your friend as a video.

iOS 13 brings three new Animoji characters — mouse, octopus, and cow — that give you more options to express yourself.

5.   Augmented Reality

The future is here with augmented reality. Also known as AR, this technology integrates with your phone’s camera to capture movement and visuals and reflect them on the screen.

iOS uses Motion Capture to allow developers to integrate people’s movement into their apps. The AR content appears naturally in front of or behind people, enabling more immersive AR experiences and fun green screen‑style applications.

6.   AirPod Integration

If you own a pair of AirPods, iOS 13 just made your life a whole lot easier. And if you don’t, then you probably will go out and buy a pair after this.

Siri will read any messages or notifications that come through your phone directly into your AirPods if you have them on. What’s more — you can now pair two sets of AirPods to one iPhone and enjoy the same song or movie along with a friend!
