Top Industries Where You Really Need A Mobile App

Has your business got an app? If not, why not? In 2020, there really is no reason not to have a fully-fledged mobile application to provide content, products and services to your customers.

Here are some of the industries where having an app is essential to your success.

Finance

Believe it or not, there are still a couple of banks that don’t offer clients the ability to view and control their accounts online.

Those unable to get with the times and keep up with the demands of their client base will soon find themselves in difficulty, as their users will migrate to those that can meet their needs.

No one has time to hang around on the phone, go into a bank, or send emails and wait 24 hours for a reply. Instead, customers want a secure and speedy app with in-app chat, the ability to manage transactions, and ways to control the use of their card.

They also want to be able to manage savings accounts, loans, and overdrafts via an app. In the future, we would even see cards become obsolete as mobile payments via banking apps become a reality.

Forex trading

Over the last 12 months, the foreign exchange market has grown by around 300% and many of these users prefer to use their mobile phones. Both experienced and amateur traders are enjoying the ability to trade on-the-go, wherever they are and whatever else they are doing.

If you don’t have a streamlined and accessible app available on iOS and Android, you could find your traders go elsewhere.

As the foreign exchange market is technically 24 hours a day for five days of the week, due to the differing timezones in which the major trading centers are located – clients don’t want to have to wait to be sat in front of a computer for all that time.

They want to trade with a coffee first thing in the morning, while nipping out for lunch, or after dinner while sitting in front of the TV. An app is the simplest way to provide them with the option of doing this.

eCommerce

An increasing number of those under 40 are doing the majority of their shopping online. Food and groceries, medicines, items for the home, clothing and more, are all ordered through apps, paid for with a swipe of the thumb, and then delivered to their doorstep.

Consumers want to shop around for the best deals online, rather than going from shop to shop on foot.

The growth of online shopping has passed the stage where highstreet retailers are scrambling to change their strategies as footfall in bricks-and-mortar stores continues to fall.

Those at the top of the market are those providing aggregator apps or apps for specific items.

News

We are bombarded with news constantly each and every day. As a consumer wishing to stay up to date, it can be confusing knowing where to get your news from. It can also be time-consuming visiting a range of different sites depending on what you’re interested in and where you’re based.

Now, news apps are changing the way we consume information. There are two main types: aggregators that collect stories from various sources based on your preferences, and branded apps.

The latter is an app that is dedicated to news from just one portal or publication. In fact, the news app market is so big that publishers are noting a decrease of visitors to their websites.

If you are operating in these markets and don’t have an app, you need to get one as soon as possible.

Even if your operations don’t feature on this list, it doesn’t mean you’re off the hook-getting an app is a commitment to your customers that you understand their needs and value their custom.
