Is Virtual Reality The New Future Of Online Gaming?

Given the technological era we’re in, Virtual Reality might well be the future for online casinos. Such tech was likely looked into more closely after worldwide lockdowns went into effect last year, with most people turning to online gambling and various gamified competitions.

VR is becoming a bigger part of the industry now. Folks are used to logging into their accounts from a phone or PC and enjoying their favorite casino games yet the introduction of the aforementioned proved to be a giant leap. Virtual Reality opened up a whole new world of possibilities, with folks needing to only put on a headset and walk into the most luxurious casinos without leaving the room.

Apart from the gambling aspect, there are plenty of other avenues for entertainment, such as VR concerts and other events that can be enjoyed without leaving the house while making one feel like they have. Users could simply walk around and play games such as roulette and blackjack, staking and winning very real money while enjoying the virtual scene.

Of course, not everyone is able to enjoy VR entertainment as some do experience nausea whenever they put on a headset. Also, there’s always the possibility of one walking into something or off something. But there are measures to protect from the latter while pills can also alleviate symptoms posed by the wearing of a VR headset.

The COVID-19 crisis made quick work of shutting just about everything down, which sucked for sports fans as one of the best things one can do while stuck at home is watching sports. The best betting sites to start betting on sports were all pretty thin on offerings but most leagues found a way to return to action within a few months, so bookmakers followed.

While the world is now in a place that doesn’t necessarily leave folks confined to their houses, VR will continue to grow. The casino market will also continue on its upward trend as mobile gaming technology will continue to improve.

A number of countries have also made online casinos legal, with plenty more to follow. 2020 ended with a 13 percent growth in the industry, taking the market value to well-nigh $70 billion. That number will only increase this year.

“The pandemic and the lockdown that followed led to a sudden surge in visitors to casino and gambling websites,” an excerpt from an article from Globenewswire.com reads.

“In fact, due to people sitting locked up in their homes and not having anything exciting to do, many tried their hands at playing online slots or other live dealer games. Many online casino sites found new subscribers, while the regular players also made it a point to play online, marking a paradigm shift in the way the traditional gambling industry used to function.”

The growing popularity of cryptocurrencies has also contributed to industry growth. The likes of bitcoin and ethereum hit all-time highs this month, with the former worth $63,689.65 at the time of writing and the latter $2,494.83 after a 19.76 percent surge over the past week.

Many online casinos have been accepting crypto as payment methods and are also actively encouraging users to transact with crypto by offering rewards and bonuses. One of the biggest advantages of crypto transactions is the trust factor. Blockchain technology has made transacting a whole lot more secure as it would take countless hours and lots of electricity to even attempt to exploit such networks.

Virtual reality isn’t quite there yet and has some way to go to become the standard, as opposed to being the alternative, but we should expect that to change when VR headsets become more affordable.

This seems an inevitability as many developers are creating content for VR and would be keen on seeing more people granted access to their products. VR Casino can currently be played for free via the Oculus headset.

There are plenty of casino fans out there who haven’t yet been made aware of the exciting possibilities where it pertains to VR, gaming, and gambling. While it will never quite replace the real-life experience, it’s been widely embraced so far.
