How To Decorate a Party with Kids in Mind

Giving a party is one way to have fun any time of the year. If you are planning a party, you’ll want all your guests to feel right at home. A special place just for their kids is a must for a party that is memorable, enjoyable and inclusive.

The Living Room

The living room is the center of any good time with your friends and family. This is where people tend to gather. Make a place for the kids by adding in seating. Pillows of all kinds are close to the ground. That is where kids sit. Let them relax with extra-large options. An old chair you’re not using is right for a party. Convert the coffee table to a play space just for them. Top it with puzzles and a stack of paper that kids can use to draw on while the adults talk. That will give kids their own area.

Dining Room

Dining rooms are the ideal space to have a nice meal. You want everyone to have a space to sit down and grab a quick snack. Designate a corner of the room just for the kids at your party. Set aside a few kid sized chairs and a table that’s lower than average. Place drinks and kid sized plates in easy reach. That makes it easy for kids to grab what they want when the party is going on and parents are busy talking.

Kitchen Style

Kitchens are a chance to go all out and have fun. If you are having a birthday party, make it special for the birthday person. Attach helium balloons to the back of one chair. Bring in lots of colorful flatware that kids can use. For example, plates shaped like pizza and forks with fun colors and amusing shapes are one way to delight the kids at your party.

The Bedroom

Now is your chance to think about how to add a splash of charm to your bedroom. You can put up a blackboard against one wall. Add chalk in varied colors and let the kids make their mark. Good lighting is another way to create a feeling that kids will love. Bring out the fairy lights. Drape them across the bed and next to the window. Bring in a kid’s craft. Let kids the kids create designs on pillows with fabric markers they can take home when the party’s done.

Your Bathrooms

You want to make those bathrooms kid friendly when the little ones are in your home. Make sure kids can use the facilities. Bring in a stepstool to help them reach things. Add a caddy that has a few items with them in mind such as soaps and washcloths. A nice fluffy rug is also very good for little feet when they come inside.

These are some of the ways you can make all of your guests feel welcome when they come by. Creative spaces for kids are a way to invite the whole family.
